Assistant Project Manager & Urban Designer

For nearly three years, I had the privilege of working at Arup, a globally recognized consultancy renowned for its expertise in engineering, urban planning, and climate resilience. This transformative experience allowed me to immerse myself in diverse urban design challenges, gaining a nuanced perspective that seamlessly bridges creative design with pragmatic project management.

As an urban designer, I contributed to projects focused on transit-oriented developments, underground space planning, and climate-resilient city design. Notable examples include the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone and the Liufushan Strategic Development Project in Hong Kong. For Hengqin, I collaborated closely with a senior architect to develop schematic designs for a coastal wetland area, carefully balancing ecological preservation with urban development. In the Liufushan project, I worked with Arup’s Hong Kong team to analyze national and regional policies, translating insights into a strategic urban design framework. This work culminated in a detailed report that aligned local priorities with regional development goals, showcasing the integration of sustainability and policy-driven design.

Beyond urban design, I embraced the broader dynamics of project delivery in my role as an assistant project manager. A highlight of this experience was supporting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Innovation Cooperation Demonstration Zone international design competition. Under the guidance of Project Manager Xiaowen Li, I facilitated communication and coordination between Arup and our joint venture partner, the Guangzhou Provincial Planning Institute. My responsibilities included managing internal workflows, streamlining external liaisons, and ensuring the project advanced smoothly and successfully.

This dual role enabled me to approach urban development from multiple perspectives, sharpening my ability to balance visionary design with the logistical complexities of implementation, a skill set that continues to influence and drive my professional growth.
